Technical Education Quality Improvement Program(TEQIP) – III, CSVTU, Bhilai, sponsored one day seminar on “Role of Bioinformatics in Drug Design” was organized at Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Pharmacy, Kumhari on 20th February 2020 which was chaired by Dr.Chanchal Deep Kaur, Professor and Principal SRIP as Organizing secretary and Dr. Ashish Patel and Dr.Kshitiz Verma as Convener and Co-Convener.
The workshop started with the inaugural function presided by chief Guest Mr.Mahendra Shrivastav, Director, SRI, Kumhari, Dr.Chanchal Deep Kaur as Organizing secretary of the workshop and Dr.Anshita Gupta Soni, Vice Principal SRIP, Kumhari. Dr.Chanchal Deep Kaur in her welcome address urged students to understand the role of computer aided drug designs in the field of drug discovery through various scientific sessions of reputable speakers at the workshop.
The first technical session was given by Dr.Hrishikesh Mishra, Scientist in Bioinformatics, Sickle Cell Institute, Raipur, explained the advances in the computing techniques and its key role in the development and drug discovery process.
Dr.Ajazuddin, Professor, Rungta College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, gave insights on bioinformatics science and how this can be merged with pharmaceutical science for the advancemet in drug discovery and can be utilized in the treatment of diseases.
The lecture was followed by deliberation of Dr.Swarnali Das Paul, Associate Professor, Shankracharya College, on drug screening and genomics.
The workshop was attended by 150 students of B.Pharm, M.Pharm and research scholars of different colleges. An E-Template competition was also organized in which phD Scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students participated.Dr.Alok Singh Thakur, Associate Professor and Ms.Astha Verma, Assistant Professor SRIP, were the crucial evaluators for E-Template competition.
Dr.J.K.Upadhayay, Vice Chairman, SRGOI, Mr.P.C.Mishra, Executive Director, Mr.Vijay Sagoriya congratulated Pharnacy fraternity for successful conduction of the workshop.Dr.Mukesh Singh, Dr.Sanjay Gupta, Dr.Smriti Dewangan, Ms.Suchita Wamankar, Mr.Saurabh Srivasatav, Ms.Pali Khobragade, Mr. Lokesh Kumar were present during the conduction of the workshop.
At last vote of thanks was given by Dr.Anshita Gupta Soni, Vice Principal and Assistant Professor, SRIP, Kumhari.
